Joaquin Carrillo
Associate
Mr. Joaquin Carrillo joined Meridian in 2025 and quickly established himself as a rising broker. In his first year, he successfully closed over 30 lease transactions, representing both landlords and tenants throughout New York City.
Representing landlords, Joaquin has built a reputation for strategically positioning underperforming and newly marketed retail assets, developing leasing strategies that maximize exposure and attract qualified operators. His background in corporate and commercial law provides him with a comprehensive understanding of lease structures, ownership entities, and transaction negotiations, enabling him to effectively communicate ownership objectives while executing deals efficiently.
On the tenant representation side, Joaquin’s extensive hospitality background gives him a unique operator perspective, allowing him to advise clients beyond site selection by focusing on how each location supports and strengthens their brand. He specializes in representing hospitality groups, multi-unit operators, franchisees, and emerging retail concepts across the food & beverage, fitness and experiential retail sectors.
Prior to joining Meridian, Joaquin worked at a boutique commercial real estate brokerage specializing in retail leasing. There, he gained two years of legal experience at leading Latin law firms, including Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano and Dentons. He also spent three years working with premier hospitality groups in New York City, developing a strong understanding of restaurant operations, customer experience, and the unique challenges faced by retail and hospitality operators.
Mr. Carrillo studied Law at the University of Lima in Peru and has completed executive education programs at the London School of Economics in Corporate Law & Finance and English Proficiency
