Mr. Lobell joined Meridian in 2009 and has served as its President since 2011. In that capacity, he works alongside Mr. Herzka in charting the strategic course of Meridian, including in the development and implementation of new products and business activities. Mr. Lobell also is a co-founder of Beech Street Capital, an Agency and FHA lender closely aligned with Meridian, and currently serves as Beech Street's Vice Chairman and a member of its board of directors.
From October 1996 through January 2005, Mr. Lobell was a partner of Covington & Burling LLP, a national law firm, where he advised companies and individuals, including Meridian, in a variety of regulatory, transactional and litigation matters. From 2005 through 2009, Mr. Lobell served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Paramount Biosciences, LLC, a global pharmaceutical development and healthcare investment firm. In addition to Meridian and Beech Street, Mr. Lobell serves on the boards of several public and private healthcare companies.
Mr. Lobell received his B.A., summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the City University of New York, and received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was Senior Editor of the Yale Law Journal.
Mr. Heumann joined Meridian in 2006 and serves as the Company's Chief Operating Officer. He is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the firm, including the continued expansion of Meridian's staffing and personnel. In addition, Mr. Heumann works closely with senior management to develop strategic initiatives. He was a recipient of NJ Biz's "40 under 40" award and recognized by Real Estate Weekly as a Rising Star in commercial real estate.
Prior to joining Meridian, Mr. Heumann was Senior Vice President, Director of Acquisitions, at Kushner Companies. He also worked as an attorney at prominent law firms specializing in mergers and acquisitions and commercial litigation.
Mr. Heumann, a Fulbright Scholar, received his B.A., summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Binghamton University, and received his J.D. from New York University Law School, where he was the Leslie Glass Scholar.
Mr. Levine joined Meridian in 2004 and currently serves as a Senior Managing Director, overseeing a staff of originators and underwriters in the negotiation and placement of financing for construction, repositioning and transitional asset transactions.
Prior to joining Meridian, Mr. Levine was a Senior Vice President at Westminster Capital, a division of Kushner Companies. His job responsibilities at Westminster included coordinating all aspects of financing for Kushner Companies, including debt and equity financing. Mr. Levine also previously worked as a financial analyst in the real estate investment banking group of CIBC World Markets.
Mr. Levine holds an M.S. in Real Estate Finance from New York University and a B.A. in Finance from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business.
Mr. Schubert joined Meridian in 1996 and is a Senior Managing Director in charge of managing Meridian’s Iselin, NJ office. He previously managed the company’s office in Englewood Cliffs. Under Mr. Schubert’s direction, Meridian’s New Jersey office focuses primarily on serving borrowers in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland markets.
As a long-standing and accomplished commercial real estate finance advisor, Mr. Schubert has consistently contributed to the financial accomplishments of the company and has personally negotiated more than $14 billion in financing over the course of his career. He has significant experience working with borrowers and lenders structuring deals throughout the capital stack and is well-versed in all of the major property types.
Mr. Goodman joined Meridian in 2014 and serves as the President of Meridian Investment Sales. In that capacity, he worked to devise and implement the creation of the Investment Sales Division, and now manages its day-to-day operations, including recruiting, strategic planning, market positioning, geographical and product expansion, and cross-selling between Meridian’s debt and sales platforms. Working closely with Mr. Herzka and Mr. Lobell, Mr. Goodman also focuses on developing other business lines and strategic activities for the firm.
From 2010 through 2014, Mr. Goodman was a senior member of the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Goldman Sachs, where he focused on advising and financing many of the group’s key clients. During his tenure at Goldman, Mr. Goodman managed more than $5 billion of CMBS and balance sheet lending activity and strategically advised and financed clients including REITs, investment managers, private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds and private investors. Mr. Goodman also served in various leadership roles within his group at Goldman, including helping to manage the group’s business selection, recruitment and staffing processes. From 2008 through 2010, Mr. Goodman worked in the Real Estate Capital Markets Group at the Reznick Group. From 2004 through 2008, Mr. Goodman worked in the Real Estate Finance Group at Credit Suisse First Boston, where he worked in both origination and disposition capacities.
Mr. Jacobowitz joined the Meridian in August 1999 and currently manages the firm's finance and accounting team. Prior to joining Meridian, he worked in the audit and tax departments at the Public Accounting firm of MR & Co., a member of the BDO Seidman Alliance.
Yossi was admitted as a Certified Public Accountant in October 1999 and graduated summa cum laude from Touro College with a B.S. in Accounting in 1992.
Mr. Simonovits joined Meridian in February 2004 and is currently a Managing Director responsible for the firm's national data, research and information management functions. Mr. Simonovits oversees Meridian's research department, and is actively engaged with Meridian's business systems and technology teams, providing real-time financial and market data to senior management and the firm's mortgage advisors. Prior to his current role in Meridian's Manhattan headquarters, which began in January 2009, Mr. Simonovits managed sales and marketing in Meridian's New Jersey office.
Before joining Meridian, Mr. Simonovits was a Senior Project Manager and Business Analyst for the Clinical Trials Management division of Schering Plough. He has also worked as a part of the information technology team at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Mr. Stern is currently a Managing Director at Meridian Capital Group, responsible for the firm’s marketing and communications platforms. As a member of the management team, he also works closely with other senior executives at the firm to plan and execute business development and strategic initiatives. He originally joined Meridian as a Director in February 2010.
Mr. Stern joined Meridian from J.E. Robert Companies / JER Partners, where he was a member of the Capital Markets, Client Relations and Communications team. Prior to JER, Mr. Stern managed successful marketing campaigns for several real estate developments in New York. He has also held roles at Citigroup's Corporate and Investment Bank, covering the Technology, Media and Telecommunications sectors, as well as at The Citigroup Private Bank, where he worked in Global Marketing.
Mr. Stern holds an A.B. in Economics from Vassar College and is a member of the Board of Governors of the Mortgage Bankers Association of New York, Inc.
